IF CREATOR: Adrift

IF-Adrift

Creating adventure games has been my big passion since a friend of mine and I got our greedy hands on a game called “The Hobbit” way back in the 80's. Compared to the standard of today it' was nothing really. Crude pictures, and a parser that would make you tear your hair out after the first five minutes. But back then it was the state of the art and we spent many hours, drinking gallons of coffee, playing that game. Anyway, to make a long and boring story short, this was what hooked me onto the IF scene.
I have since worked with G.A.C. (Graphic Adventure Creator) and Quill too. (Nothing too serious though) After many years of searching I finally came across “Adrift.”

Adrift is an Adventure creating tool, that focuses on the writing of the game rather than the
coding, which is great for someone like me who is too busy learning how to code etc.
Adrift is invented by Campbell Wild, and the first release was back in Dec ’98 when Adrift Adventure Generator 3.10 was published.
Since then Adrift has been undergoing a steady improvement until today, where an entire new developer is available. Adrift V.5.0 (currently in beta) This has so many new features compared to the old V.4. For instance it allows you to export (save) your game as an .exe or a Blorb file omitting the need for a runner.

I used to work with Adrift V.4 but since the new V.5 is already freeware I recommend that you jump right into it and start with this developer.

There are two versions out, you can download either of them from the link below.

Windows: V.5

Linux: V.5
